Online profiles-the way forward or a con for musicians?

Everywhere you turn, bands, emerging singer-songwriters, djs trying to make a mark. Myspace being a wellknown host for numerous acts across the world, similar patern spreading to facebook, musicnation, ilike, youtube and many more I've not had a chance to discover.

Is it actually in aid for the creative folk out there?

Surly the more ways that a band, emerging singer-songwriter, dj can 'expose' themselves is a good thing?

Don't see why not. In fact, the internet has made it possible to musicians to do more than they ever could before. This "new democracy" has taken away much of the necessity in being signed up by so-called recording companies, most of which actually limit artisitic expression in favour of commercialism. So now anything is possible, there's a blue sky out there!
