About Me:
Simon's musical career spans 25 years and he has performed and recorded with many bands. Since 1995 Simon has performed his "One Man Rock Show" across the UK and is also a highly respected guitar teacher.
Most notable of Simon's recordings are his two solo albums "My World" and "Freethinka" although he has also performed on two albums by Al Atkins (former Judas Priest vocalist and founder). These are "Heavy Thoughts" and the current Al Atkins album "Demon Deceiver" for which Simon wrote the title track.
Between 2003 and 2007 Simon was the lead guitarist with legendary ‘70’s rock band Budgie. With Budgie Simon toured the UK four times and also toured in the USA, Sweden, Poland, Holland and Belgium. Simon also co-wrote and performed on Budgie's latest studio album "You're All Living in Cuckooland" - their first new release for over two decades. This album was awarded 8/10 by Classic Rock magazine and got to No. 24 in the Sweden music charts in late 2006 (just ahead of Robbie Williams!).
Other notable bands Simon has played with include top Ozzy Osbourne tribute band Ozzmosis, Shropshire based hard rock outfit Tantrum, The Red House Snakes (fronted by ELO’s Kelly Grocutt’s nephew Gary Grocutt), and unashamed “Cock Rockers” Plain Jain.
In 2007 Simon made his acting debut at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton where he played the principle character "Pop" in the Queen musical "We Will Rock You". The show was produced by Shout Productions and this was the first time the famous West End musical had been performed outside London. On Easter weekend three sell-out shows were performed and each received a standing ovation.
To say that Simon is an award winning guitarist is no exaggeration. In 1998 Simon won the prestigious "Guitarist of the Year" title having been a finalist in 1993, '94 and '95.
As a guitar teacher, Simon has released a tutorial DVD called "Signpost to the Fretboard" which explains how Simon finds his way so effortlessly around the guitar's fretboard. This, along with Simon's two solo albums can be purchased by logging onto www.onemanrockshow.com and clicking on "Downloads".
Simon is also a fine singer and in 2000 he was able to demonstrate this to 5.5 million people by impersonating Aerosmith's Steve Tyler on UK prime time TV's "Stars in Their Eyes".
Simon's biggest live audience was at Wolverhampton's Molineux Stadium where he performed Status Quo's "Rockin' All Over the World" to 22,500 before the Wolves v's Birmingham City match in April 2007. www.onemanrockshow.comwww.myspace.com/1simonlees

Hi Simon,
Sorry if I touched a raw nerve. It sounds like you had a bum deal there! Thankyou very much for filling in the gaps. It's always very frustrating being a fan of a band, and not knowing the 'behind the scenes' stuff. I wasn't having a dig at you. No way! You very kindly sent us a signed CD which has some brilliant songs on it. If only we lived in the midlands, we would get along to some of your solo gigs. Hope to catch up with you someday. All the best, mike & Sylvi xx
Hi Simon.
We are still a bit peeved that you flew the perch when you did. If you'd stayed 'in the nest' us poor starved Budgie fans in the UK might have had a chance to see you and the boys perform the new stuff alongside some of the old classics. Oh well.....
It seems they only play Poland and Australia nowadays. So much for keeping their homegrown fans happy!!!! If ever see Burke again, tell him to get his arse back on the road in the UK. You could even rejoin for a while and we could have a twin-lead line-up! It would be a real treat to see you again.
Anyway, keep on rockin'. Hope to catch you on tour if you ever get down here to the South Coast (Bournemouth).
All the best,
Mike & Sylvi Clark
Yeh thats the Big Mick, Big Mick Hughes, he still does Metallica, aswell as Slipnot (when hes not doing Metallica) he also did Led Zeps at the O2, aswell as many others. And yeh Jason is an awesome guitarist, still pounding away with Gingers Sonic Circus and The God Damn Whores although he's mainly making his name as a producer. Anyway enjoyed your vids, you can certainly play, have a great night.
Hey Simon, see your at JB's tonight, haven't been for years, hope you have a great one. As your from round that way jus wondering if you know any of the guys I used to work with. I was in a band for a while with Stevie Danger Wolfsbane drummer and Jason the guitarist produced us (now producing Therapy and The Wildhearts) and I was managed for a While By Big Mick and Gary Garner, spent a while with quite a few from round your way, you know any of this lot?
