I have been through many over the years and for the majority of that time I prefered SG's, they look sexy and sound great without the weight of the Les Paul. I used a Yamaha SG2000 for many years and a custom Tele with humbuckers and in all that time I never could get on with Strats, until last year when I got a Jap '62 reissue and it is beautifull, great sound and fabulous neck. my main guitar at this time is a Levinson Blade Texas Special from the early nineties in sonic blue, the 62 Strat is backup and I am using a 66 SG special for slide.
So I guess the Blade is my favourite right now ..................... what's yours?

Mine is a Tokai Love Rock Jap made..
Lovely piece of wood. I've had a Les Paul before that wasn't as good!!
Prior to that I got a awful lot of use out of a PRS SE I bought for 200.00 of ebay. Very handy budget end instrument which when your doing a lot is sometimes good to have(well is for me anyway as I'm clumsy at the best of times)

I ahve a Mex Strat with a mid range boost which gives it a bit more bite on those otherwise weedy mid positions.
Otherwise I don't get on great with Strats

I didn't want to buy a strat, I wanted to buy a Les Paul, I've always thought they looked and sounded the best. But then I came across my 1998 big apple strat with two Seymor Duncan Pearly Gates. It amazed me as it had way more balls than the closest Les Paul. It was also very dynamic as you switched between pick up selection. You can get the standard strat sounds but you can also OUT BALLS A LES PAUL. Its an extremely clean full quality sound that can then be transfromed in any way you want, its very useable. Its also a very good looking strat (which, lets face it, can normally look very standard and boring), its a bit like a Stevie Ray but different scratch plate and accessories, and being the only strat not to have single coil pick ups, its actually a very nice looking guitar.
I haven't got a pic to hand but you can see it on our pubgigs page and websites in our logo and vids, i've used the same guitar now for 10 years and have no interest in changing.

I always hated the norm and wanted to be different, but if we're all honest a top quality Strat or Les Paul is better than anything, which is why most top players use them. It can just be deceiving as there are so many versions and the cheaper ones, and certainly copies, that are not so good.

And if you wanna talk Bass guitars, check out my wifes custom Status Graphite, I started on bass and have played most of the best in my life, but this out does them all in playabilty and sound. The electrics are way superior to others and it is just beautifully made. I strongly believe it is the concorde of bass guitars and it will be a long time before it is bettered.
She originally had a John Entwistle Graphite Status Buzzard, which was amazing but just too big, this bass she has now is the same quality but in a far more useable package. But dont look at the new Status Buzzard2 ...oooooh.. damn dat iz UGLY! Unfortunatley Warwick stuffed Status for the copyright of the Buzzard shape after John died and Status cant make them anymore. which is a shame because it was a far more superior instrument than the Warwick and very beautiful. You can see the original John Entwistle signature Status Buzzard on our video for our song Heaven On Earth, just goto www.youtube.com/thegoodges they are now very rare collectors items!

My workhorse is a `2003 `59 historic reissue. I paly others too, `72 Sg Special with p 90`s that I bought new, A 2003 Les Paul D/C. ` 72 Les Paul G/T that I bought from a guy in USA that had laid in a wet case in the basement of a house that was wiped out by hurricane Katrina. It was in a rough old sate and took months to put together. It sounds and plays awsome!!!
Her`s some pics of it??

You were lucky with that one! Looks like it was used as a paddle, I take it you had to replace all the fittings and oil up the truss rod?
I use a 68 SG special for slide, it sounds great. you don't need a tremolo with the early SG's, the neck joint is so weak that just pulling the neck back and forth does the job. Pete Townshend used that technique a lot.
Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.

Hi Steve, Funny enough, After putting it back together I refretted it and put everything back the same as when Jim (the late owner) had it.
The only things I replaced was the pots.
The pick ups are amazing condition.I had to wax dip those as well but other than that nothing.
The neck is as straight as an arrow too!!!
Glad you like it,
Terry
ps your Sg is a replica of mine!!

Having gone through a lot of guitars, both electric and acoustic... I must say that I do love those built by luthiers It's a bit like the difference between having a Mondeo and a Formula 1 racer. Anything hand-built is gonna have a superior feel and the sound is going to what it's commissioner favors.

Still... for me.. it's the guitar that gets the job done! I carry two with me at the moment. My Yairi Baritone (massive tone!!) and my little Garrison; probably one of the most inexpensive guitars I've ever owned.

I love my fender Jagmaster ala Kurt Cobain as a six string but as a bassist I have a 1987 Tokai origial series prototype bass which is the mutts. Really small neck like a 6 string , lovely rosewood fretboard and a coil tap pickup it really is mmmmmmmmmmmmm and i have never ever seen another one she is SEX ON LEGS deffo far better than the Jaydee supernatural I had built for me!!!!!!!!!!!
