Pubgigs.com

real people, real music, real entertainment

How's about organising a nationwide pub gig night. All the same night, co-ordinated publicity, maybe for charity, maybe something like a non-pro version of live aid! I'm sure a lot of pubs would be up for that, and a lot of bands, and a lot of breweries and a lot of pub-goers! If anyone reckons it could be a goer, let me know!

I had a similar idea about 20 years ago, and when I started to get stuck into it a bit more, the idea became too big to for me and my mates to undertake...so we didn't. I reckon it could be done as long as you have committed individuals, in each region. Having said that, are there enough people on the pubgigs site yet, for it to get really interesting??

Ta for that....I think we'll need to accumulate ideas well in advance of that though. As there doesn't seem to be many users on pub gigs yet, how else do we widen the idea? Anyway, as a first stop, if people can dump ideas against this posting, it's a starting point. I will post some ideas of mine later or tomorrow, and see what happens? Thanks for all your replies on this though....it could start to germinate! Looks like it would have to be summer 09 though to sort it out? Dunno.

I agree with Blue Fingers...great idea but this website alone does not have enougth clout.
If you are serious then you guys should also contact the other major band and gig websites such as www.lemonrock.com and www.gigall.co.uk. I'm pretty sure that the bloke who runs www.gigall.co.uk would support it. Don't know about www.lemonrock.com though but certainly worth a try.

I e-mailed Rick Wakeman about this (on his planet rock show) and he had the grace to write me back within 5 minutes! He said what I'd guessed he would, in that we'd need major backing for such an idea, both in money and 'clout'. Anyway, I e-mailed Fender, Marshall and Guinness about it, and I've heard diddly-squat as yet, but you never know. There must be a way to link up between counties though...someone in each county must have a good handle on their music scene (i.e. what venues there are, names etc) if there was one rep from each county, that would be a good start. If this can all be backed and promoted via a 'major name' in business (best to be a music name, or brewery), it could start to blossom, BUT it's getting it out there....Thanks for all your replies, Keep Rockin, John
